11.11.11

  • Woke up at 1pm.
  • HAND-FED that little picky girl.
  • Only left the house at.. 2.30pm.
  • Collected our freshly roasted coffee beans.
  • Stuck in a jam.
  • Wanted to try
Photobucket
But only reached S Melbourne at 4pm.

Had to put Truffle back to the car for convenience.. and had lunch alone.

Photobucket
Not a bad thing since I had my seafood and also, quiet time on my own.

************************
Dinner at Quan Jude w BF and friends.
Was kinda impromptu. As in the place that we decided to dine at.

Yes, Peking duck specialist...

& the chef (for the peking duck)

Apparently it was reallly goood. But I can't judge since this was what I ate:
Photobucket
Crepe w the veg was yummy ok!
& no, I'm not having a vegeterian diet.

I just don't eat duck for personal reasons.

Our other orders in which I enjoyed!
Photobucket

A pretty decent place. Probably fantastic if you love duck.
Price wise, a little steep.
Actually, no, its expensive for these few dishes.
We spent about $50 each!

Still,
Nomnomnom.

Takumi

Where: 32 BOURKE ST, MELBOURNE, VICTORIA 3000
Contact#: 03 9650 7020
Website: TAKUMI.COM.AU

For those who know me personally will know that I am NEVER fond of meat. Not much of a meat-lover; I will always always pick seafood whenever I can.
Of course, I am easy-going (HAHAHAHAHA), will go with the flow when meals are accompanied by other people, especially since it is picked by the birthday boy.

Saw this on their website:

Melbourne's Only Wagyu Beef Specialist

"Serving only the highest quality Australian Wagyu Beef"

And boy, I totally do agree with them. Their beef was splendid!
The marbling of the beef - WOOOTS.
Not too much and not too little. IMO.
Will definitely go there again, especially if I'm with a bunch of beef-lovers.

Was also pleased to find that the place is run by Japanese. How more authentic can you get?

Matt Preston had actually did a review (HERE) so you may be interested to read what he has got to say since it's a food critic.

Maybe its their marketing strategy but still I was swooon over by their beef. I reckon it is the way they slice it, the thickness and all.

Some photos:

You know, I actually realized that I forgot to capture the photos for the food! But you can find them on their website.

We had picked "All-You-Can-Eat" (value for $$ since it's majority guys at the dinner) and the catch is to finish within 1.5h so must CHIONG when the food arrives mahhhh.
And also because I was so excited to eat when the food arrived at our table.

PLUS WE FREAKING WOKE UP AT 6PM.
YES, PM SO THAT OUR FIRST MEAL. LOL.

Non-restaurant related photo:
(I looked awkward in most photos! I knew the girls because of BF soooo am a little shy! They were kind enough to ask me join in their photo-whoring. :) Feel less dejected. Hahaha.)
(& I don't feel satisfied with how I do my makeup that day. Overslept and only had less than 30mins to prepare, including deciding my damn clothes! So it did affected my confidence. I'm damn WTF right?)

To mark our since 2006 of togetherness

Celebration on the actual day,

Then

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Freshly shucked oysters and homecooked!
Forgot to take a photo of the fried chicken wings and salad.

Bf's sickkkkk of ang moh food (and hates it too) thus the chicken wings (his favourite!) and no steak.

Anddd our postponed serrrr-pecial dinner due to overbooking and other commitments.

March 20.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Yupppppppppppppp.

Nobu desu.

After hearing alllllll ze hype about this restaurant.. WE FINALLY GET TO EAT THERE!

And because we are going to a Japanese restaurant,
Decided to take this opportunity to wear my Glamorous Jane dress, imported from Japan.

Photobucket

LOL.

We decided to go ala carte since we know what we want.
Feels more in control.
Later they serve what we hate how!

And so,

Photobucket

Our pick.

Photobucket

The sake.
Not sure what BF has picked but he said it's the sweeter one amoung the rest.
Can't help but I thought it tasted like antiseptic wipes even though the sake is not cheap sake!
Insult to the sake, BF said.
I prefer this other pink pink bottled sake that I've tried the other time with his friends. HMMMM.

And the food.

The everybody should know.

Edamame

Photobucket

The sea salt flake makes it taste so yummmmm.
Determine to make this next time!

Cold dishhhhes.

Yellowtail Sashimi with JalapeƱo

Photobucket

One of their signature dish.
The sashimi is thinly sliced and the sourness from the jalapeno compliments it very well!

Sea Urchin

Photobucket

First time trying!
So I can't really say if it's fresh or not, yummier than other places or not.

Tiradito Sashimi

Photobucket

Use the lemon slices to form this after slurppinggg on the tako.

Photobucket

Guess you have pretty much guessed on how we thought about the dish!

Handroll

Photobucket

Bf's.
He said was ok only. Japan served much better ones!

Hot dishesssss.

The everybody said is a super yum one....

Black Cod with Miso

Photobucket

Agree too. Massive yum except the price.

Prawns with Spicy Garlic

Photobucket

Super boring so not worth it dish. Seriously.
I think I can cook better. LOL.
But really la. Asians please do not order this. Not in a Japanese restaurant!
It's nice but soooo chinesey food feel.

Wagyu Gyoza with Goma Ponzu

Photobucket

Damn yum! The gyoza skin is smooth and not too soft! Like got the chewy feel.

Tenderloin Toban Yaki

Photobucket

Still sizzling when it was served. The tenderloin is tender and they serve it medium-rare. Remove the beef the moment it's being served so it doesnt cook further!

Palate Cleanser

Photobucket

Then, my favourite momentttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt.

DESSERTS.
nomnomnomnomnommmm.

I couldnt decide and therefore I settled for

Nobu tasting plate
– a selection of Nobu’s finest desserts

Photobucket

Seeee that hand? Bf's! He couldnt wait to indulge into his

Mochi

Photobucket

Evidence of who's the real pig in da house.

Photobucket

In conclusion,
Nobu is a pleasant place with nice ambiance.
Can try.
Not too much of a wow especially if you are happy with simple fresh Japanese food.
Don't really think I will go back again.

I strongly feel that if you are after good Japanese food, there are other better places, even in Melbourne.
Not that the food is bad. I just find that it is too pricey unless you want to try something out of the ordinary sort of Japanese food.

Anyhow, glad to have picked Nobu to mark our anniversary.
At least it's our first time together visiting this "omg must try" restaurant.

Like our trip to Vue De Monde.

Photo taken after Bf commented "WAH WHY YOUR RING SO BLING."

Then,
I excitedly urged him to snap a photo of me with the blingssss.

PS// I personally prefer the blurer version. See below.
